From the General Manager
The Christmas season is here! I hope you take time to visit with your family and friends during the month of December. The next few weeks will be full of parties, shopping, football, traveling, and many other good times. During this busy time, let’s not forget to count our many blessings and remember the real reason for the Christmas season.
During the month of December, many StillWaters residents decorate their homes with lights and other decorations. The SWRA Christmas committee also decorates the entrance gates and SWRA office. I encourage all residents to take a slow drive around StillWaters after the sun sets and enjoy the Christmas lights and decorations.
Invoices for the 2017 StillWaters Residential Association annual fees will be mailed the last week in December. The association fees are due January 1st and past due after January 31, 2017. Because there was only a nominal change in the Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA), the SWRA Board voted keep the 2017 fees the same as the 2016 fees. SWRA association fees can only increase when there is an increase in the COLA or as mandated by the covenants. Failure to receive an invoice is not an acceptable reason for not paying your SWRA fees in a timely manner.
Our area is still in the grips of an extreme drought. The State of Alabama has issued a ban on all outdoor burning in our area. Please help protect our forest and homes by following the state burn ban. It only takes one spark to start a forest fire. Anyone that violates the state burn ban could receive fines and jail time.
On Saturday, December 10th the Still Waters Volunteer Fire Department and anyone else wanting to participate with a golf cart or other unique motorized vehicle will have a parade through StillWaters passing out candy. Assembly for the parade will begin at 1pm at the SWRA Centre parking lot and the parade will start as soon as everyone is ready to go. Santa will be riding on the fire truck. Hot chocolate and coffee will be available at the SWRA Centre. Read the article in this newsletter for more parade details and the parade route.
The holiday shopping season has already started. Help support our local merchants by shopping locally. Our community has several unique stores only a couple of miles away that carry almost any gift item you can imagine. Not sure what the size or color someone likes, then purchase a gift certificate from one of our many local restaurants-you can never go wrong with a good meal as a gift.
Christmas is a time that many people open their hearts to those that are less fortunate. Very few of us have any extra money during Christmas but we can give our time to volunteer organizations or help a neighbor around their house. Gifts of time and love are greater than any gift you can purchase in a store. I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Kevin Eason, General Manager
